Car crashes into Northdale property

Twelve year old child “flies out of car”, miraculously surviving accident with a minor injury.

A 12 year old child miraculously escaped serious injury after he “flew out of a car” that crashed into the front yard of a Gandhi Road, Northdale home on Saturday afternoon.

Resident Shanoo Rajpaul said she was on the phone in the lounge of her home when she suddenly heard a “loud bang”.

“I was on the phone in the lounge while my children were occupied, I suddenly heard a loud BANG, when I opened the door I just saw the car in the yard. Immediately the neighbours and people in the area were in our yard to assist us,” explained Shanoo.

Her husband Vijay, was not present when the incident occurred said he arrived home at about 1.45 pm to find a blue Sierra lying on its roof in his yard. The car had crashed through the palisade wall and gate.

It is alleged that the car landed in the property after it apparently avoided another car that had been parked outside the Rajpaul residence.

The driver and occupants of the vehicle, including the 12 year old and a 16 year old sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Northdale hospital for treatment.

The driver, was unavailable to comment, as he was suffering from shock after the accident.
