Pmb investment banker crowned Mrs India SA

Pietermaritzburg’s Riona Rajkumar clinched the title of Mrs India SA and commits to women empowerment projects.

Pietermaritzburg’s Riona Rajkumar was crowned Mrs India SA on Saturday at the Sibaya iZulu Theatre.

Rajkumar, a mother of a three year old son holds an MBA degree and is an investment specialist.

“I am still ecstatic after being crowned and I’m still receiving well wishes from family and friends. It’s all quite emotionally overwhelming. I’ve had tears in my eyes knowing that so many people had so much of faith in me and that no matter what we all have the ability to make a difference. Right now I am spending as much time as I can with my family, especially my son, as I have been involved in many events and community work for a while now,” said Rajkumar.

She said she was looking forward to her year of reign and aimed to immerse herself in charity and working towards the vision of the Mrs India South Africa organisation and SHE Force (Serve, Help and Empower) – and that was to build an empowerment centre for women and children.

“Together as a community we can shift the gears towards transformation to ensure a better life for all. I embrace this journey with each and every person who has the vision and mission to make a difference,” said Rajkumar.

Rajkumar’s mother, Anusha Maharaj, posted a heart-warming congratulatory message on social media.

“My baby girl, all grown up. You’ve blossomed into a beautiful intelligent, young lady. The road we travelled wasn’t always easy but you persevered. You never gave up. From humble beginnings, we remain humble. You triumphed in school, varsity, as a daughter, mother and wife. I still remember the day you were born; you touched my face with your little fingers so lovingly. Thank you for always being here for all of us…for always taking care of me. You encourage me to be strong. Continue on your journey, uplifting all who you meet. We are so proud of you and I just want to tell you we love you, and want to assure you, our love for you is pure and true. You create a feeling in our hearts, a feeling so beautiful, indescribable and divine…that I’m so glad to say you’re mine….an angel of mine,” said Maharaj’s message.

CEO of Mrs India–South Africa, Mrs Anusha Bisaal said the pageant was hosted with the belief that there was life after marriage, more so, women have achieved greater heights and have proven to be successful in a male dominated world. Rajkumar will be working closely with Bisaal to help and serve the community.

“The Mrs India SA pageant is a remarkable journey of self-discovery and a practice of self-less service to my family, friends and the community”, said Rajkumar. She is passionate about the positive contribution to society and the role that every citizen plays in creating their reality.

The pageant is a platform in which married women can be recognised for their talents, intellect, and contribution towards humanity. All finalists are expected to humble themselves and offer charitable service to the community which are some of the Mrs India South Africa responsibilities.
