Baby for sale case adjourned

The 20 year old mother who tried to sell her child on Gumtree abandoned her bail application last, month and the court was told that she planned to plead guilty.

The Pietermaritzburg woman, charged under the Human Trafficking Act for allegedly selling her child for R5000 on Gumtree, will now appear in court on Monday, November 30, after a brief appearance this week. She was to have pleaded guilty.

The woman, whose identity is not being disclosed to protect her child, consulted with her new attorney before the case was postponed.

The woman was caught after police set up a sting operation and arrested the woman at a local KFC after seeing the advert on Gumtree. The 20 year old mother abandoned her bail application last, month and the court was told that she planned to plead guilty.
