If baby Caylum can help so can you! Lets unite to keep helping our future generations.

KELLY CADEN, chairperson of the Caylum Willemse Foundation, and the Willemses made a key announcement at Caylum’s first birthday party when they named the next families and babies they will be helping.

One of the babies the Caylum Willemse Foundation made a significant donation to was Shelton Tofile (13 months old) who was born on November 29, 2015. Baby Shelton, just like Caylum, is a TOF and OA baby.

Shelton was diagnosed with tracheobronchomalacia. He is a child who has problems with his oesophagus (feeding tube) and trachea (the windpipe), known as tracheo-oesophageal fistula (TOF) and oesophageal atresia (OA).

The fistula is a connection between the trachea and the oesophagus, which may lead to problems with breathing.

Shelton’s mother, Ethel Tofile, and her elder son, Ackim Tofile (7), from Pretoria, were present at Caylum’s party.

Speaking to the CHRONICLE, Ethel said Shelton has had numerous adversities because of his condition.

“Shelton has several genetic problems as well as hearing loss. He is in dire need of his trachea (the windpipe) and oesophagus (the feeding tube) being repaired. He had difficulty hearing and has many sleepless nights. We have taken him to a government hospital and they have been treating him but nothing has changed. His problem started eight months ago and since then he has been dilating monthly,” said Ethel.

Ethel said she had been speaking to many people in a local support group and it was in December that someone from the Caylum Willemse Foundation contacted them to help.

The foundation announced that they will be donating R60 000 to baby Shelton and will be sponsoring all his treatment.
