Organisations network and reach out to 843 children from Jackson’s Drift

All 843 children were blessed with so many helping hands reaching out to them this Mandela Day.

THIS Mandela Day various organisations were involved in reaching out to the less fortunate in the Jackson’s Drift Informal Settlement.

The Bokang Mosia Foundation spent most of the day spoiling and feeding 843 children from Jackson’s Drift and in partnership with Rene Parker from Child Reach, the team brought smiles and laughter to so many faces.

Bokang Mosia came dressed as a Mondeor scout representative and brought a host of volunteers who all put their hands to the plough. Together they provided a good plate of food and fruit for the children, handed out boxes of toys and warm clothes like scarves and beanies, and invited the children from the Aspen Hills Nature Estate to enjoy the afternoon playing soccer with the children from Jackson’s Drift.

Dario Gouveia from Meyersdal, his mom Zita Gouveia, and the team also joined in to donate shoes to the community on behalf of Sole2Sole.

“We were blessed to give each of the 843 children shoes. Some children were lucky enough to receive two pairs. A huge thank you to all their volunteers who so kindly fitted the children with shoes. Thank you for taking the time to come through and make our day. Many blessings to Rene Parker and her team,” read a post on the Sole2Sole Facebook page.

The children were blessed with so many helping hands reaching out this Mandela Day.

“This is for all the amazing residents in Eye of Africa. You have truly been such a blessing to us by donating clothes, toys, blankets and food to our feeding scheme. Please thank Dean, your soccer coach and also the soccer team for coming along to play our Mandela match. All our boys had a wonderful time. Please let’s play friendlies as often as possible. Blessings to you all for going the extra mile to bring Jacksons residents what they need. Thank Paddy and the Anglican Church in Mondeor for the beautiful blankets for the elderly. Blessings to all,” read a post on the Child Reach Facebook page.
