Hope shared with parents of prem babies

The event also served to raise awareness for Alberton’s baby Jazeel Hlope, who weighed only 395g at birth.

THE Netcare Clinton Hospital celebrated World Prematurity Day and invited its past and present tiny superheroes and their parents to share the progress each baby has made.

The staff of Clinton Hospital invited the families for tea and cake as they honoured and celebrated these miracle babies. The day served as a platform for parents of premature babies to get together and encourage those parents who are still in the intensive care unit (ICU) with their babies.

Many parents gave their own testimonies of how they overcame life’s challenges. They also showed how their healthy babies are visible proof of this. Each testimony came with tears and its own personal touch from the mothers and fathers of premature babies.

Baby Shiloh Fea Ribeiro was also present with her family. The last time we followed up with baby Shiloh was when she turned one in June.

The event also served to raise awareness for Alberton’s baby Jazeel Hlope, who weighed only 395g at birth. Her mother also spoke at the event and encouraged other parents to stay strong in the ICU. Read more on this story in the Alberton RECORD and online.

Parents mingled and shared their stories once the formalities were over. Dr Klaas Mnisi handed out plush unicorn toys to each baby. They were also given a pack of nappies.
